Skylar Grey finally received an official gold disc for her first RIAA certification as a lead and independent artist.
The single Skylar Grey wrote for the Venom franchise and recorded together with Eminem, Polo G, and Mozzy skyrocketed to popularity in autumn 2021 and landed her a place within the Billboard Hot 100.
But recognition takes time. Not even to come to success, but a bureaucracy of acknowledgement. The single sold over 500,000 copies and went gold almost a year ago, in late September 2022. It was officially certified and added to the RIAA database six months after, in March 2023. And it took five months longer to get her hands on this physical manifestation of her success.
Happy Skylar posted a photo with a plaque on her Instagram account with a short caption:
Gold baby
