In a recent episode of Drink Champs, rapper Grafh sat down to talk all things hip hop, diving into stories from their early careers, industry battles, and the state of the game today. But one moment that caught everyone’s attention was when Grafh had to choose between two rap legends: Busta Rhymes and Eminem.
During the show’s traditional “Quicktime With Slime” game, hosts NORE and DJ EFN threw the question at Grafh, and after a moment of hesitation, he made his choice:
Damn, Bus is my nigga too, though. I’mma go with Em, ’cause he’s influenced my style.
Grafh went on to explain that his rap influences are a mix of legends like Prodigy, Nas, Jada, Jay-Z, and, of course, Eminem. “But I love Busta, man”, he added, showing respect to both artists.
Grafh didn’t stop there. He took a moment to shout out both Eminem and Royce 5’9”, giving props to the duo for their impact on his career and remembering how evident this influence was:
They used to call me Black Eminem for a while. That’s one of the best compliments to me. I think Em is one of the top niggas. Royce and him, both of them influenced my shit. So, that’s a big compliment to me, the Eminem shit. I always wanted to do a song with Em. Just one nostalgic shit because I look up to him as an MC and have to see who gets the better verse. With Em, it is a blood sport. This is personal. ’Cause that’s a fact, he’s coming to smoke shit.
It’s clear that Grafh holds Eminem and Royce 5’9 in high regard, and the idea of a collaboration between these lyrical heavyweights has us all wondering — will we ever get to hear that track? If it happens, it’s going to be an all-out battle on the mic.
