Havoc of Mobb Deep Was Shocked to Hear Eminem Freestyling Over Their Verse in “8 Mile”

Havoc and Prodigy represented a whole era in hip hop and the Queensbridge projects in the borough of Queens, New York. Their single “Shook Ones Pt. II” became an anthem and found its way into Marshall’s epic hip hop movie, “8 Mile”. Recently, HipHopDX caught up with Havoc somewhere on a red carpet and asked him about his favourite Mobb Deep verse ever. To nobody’s surprise, the Queens rapper named “Shook Ones”. He still remembers what he felt seeing the classic final battle scene in “8 Mile” and recognising his own beat: I was really taken aback because I didn’t even know if Eminem was a fan. So I found out he was a fan. And then the cha-ching sound went in my head. Marshall was a fan. He didn’t only use Havoc’s beat for B-Rabbit’s final attack, he even made a reference to the original verse in his lyrics: Ain’t no such things as halfway crooks And yes, the royalties from “8 Mile” are still coming in, helping Havoc pay for his designer clothes.
